Boonville – Lois A. Daskiewich, 91, passed away on March 31st, 2024 at her home under the loving care of her family.


She was born in Utica, NY on January 16, 1933 a daughter of George and Lillian Uerz Perreault. Lois graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School, Utica and furthered her education at Plattsburgh State College in elementary education. She and William (Bill) Daskiewich were united in marriage on August 20, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. The couple moved to Boonville in 1966 and built a home on Lewis Road and then built another home on Carol Place in 1998 where they have since lived. Bill died November 30, 2019.  Lois was a kindergarten teacher teaching in Rome and then Adirondack Central School in West Leyden for 28 years retiring in 1990.

Lois was a member of Christ Our Hope/ St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville and the Altar Rosary Society. Her God was very important to her, she attended daily mass and never missed. After she retired she enjoyed traveling, gardening, swimming, golf and playing cards. Lois especially loved going shopping and to garage sales and Sunday family dinners.

Surviving are her children, Nanette and Thomas Podkowka, Patti McCale (Buck Hiemstra) and William Daskiewich; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Kelly and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Jean Brady.

A prayer service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024at 9:15 a.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301Post Street, Boonville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Hope/St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville with Rev. Matt Rawson as celebrant. Calling hours will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville.
