Boonville – Marvel L. Denslow, 88, of East Road, widow of Richard, passed away following a brief illness on March 24, 2024, while surrounded by her loving children at Wynn Hospital, Utica.

Born in Boonville on October 24, 1935, Marvel Laura Warren was the eldest daughter of Bert E. and Cornelia Newell Warren.  She grew up in Boonville and was a graduate of Boonville Central School with the Class of 1953.  She continued her education at Central City Business Institute, Syracuse, where she earned her medical secretary’s degree in 1954.  From 1954 until 1956 Marvel was employed as a secretary at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome.

On June 4, 1955 Marvel was united in marriage with Richard C. “Dick” Denslow at the Boonville United Methodist Church.  For a time, the couple resided in Boonville before moving to the East Road in the Town of Leyden, where they took over operation of the Denslow Family Dairy Farm which they operated with their family for several years.  Mr. Denslow a well-known finish carpenter passed away on March 21, 1997. 

Marvel was an industrious individual and had many jobs locally for which she will be affectionately remembered.  She was employed for Erwin Library & Institute as a library aide for thirty years, worked as a domestic in several private residences, and enjoyed helping out in the kitchen at Freddy’s Restaurant prepping food for the coming week.  Since 1983 she has been a valuable employee of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., devoted and still dedicating her time and talents to the business presently. 

She has been a longtime member of the Constableville United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of UMW, served as the church organist, and taught Sunday School for several years. She also enjoyed attending reunions of the BCS Class of 1953 and attending several local senior activities.

She is survived by her three daughters: Cindy Eggleston, New York Mills, Colleen (David) Poppe, Liverpool, Christy (Tony) Bondy, Durham, NC; two sons: Mark (Beth) Denslow, Jeff (Kim) Denslow, both of Boonville, four grandsons: four step-grandchildren:  Mark Wilsey, Amanda Wilsey, and John and Jared Markham, one sister Linda Parker, Prospect and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband Richard, she was predeceased by her sister Sheila Bauer; brothers-in-law: William Parker and Douglas Bauer.

Her Funeral will be Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.  Interment will be later this spring in Port Leyden Cemetery.  Calling hours are Thursday from 3-8 P.M., and on Friday prior to her funeral, from 9-11:00 A.M, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502 or to the Port Leyden Cemetery Association, P.O.
