Boonville-Richard J. Charbonneau , 82, passed away on January 13, 2021 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Boonville, N.Y. on March 2, 1938 a son of Louis and Vera Jenks Charbonneau. He graduated from Boonville High School and then furthered his education at Wanakeena Forestry School.
He married Karen Roberts on January 17, 1959 in Boonville, this was of blessed union of 62 years.
Richard was employed with the U.S. Post office for many years and retired from the Boonville Post Office as Postmaster in 1993. He was an Avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed Hunting and playing Golf. Richard coached and umpired Babe Ruth . He enjoyed Baseball particularly the Yankees. He was a civic minded man who gave to his community by serving on the Boonville Ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician from May 1963 to July 1988. He answered 1886 calls during a period of 25 years. Richard had a sense of humor and one liners, When asked how he was doing, he would respond by saying “ Strong, Brave and Handsome”
Surviving are his wife Karen, 4 sons and daughters in law, Jerry and Jeri Charbonneau, Forestport, Dana and Anne Charbonneau, Trevor and Carey Charbonneau, Ryan and Michele Charbonneau, all of Boonville. 2 daughters and sons in law, Tara and Dennis Silliman, Boonville, Jill and Kevin Powers, Troy N.Y. many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Julie on July 11, 2013 and 2 brothers Douglas and William Charbonneau. The family would like to thank Sunset Nursing Home , especially Nicki on C wing for all the love and care shown to Richard over the past 3 years.
