Roberta E. (Schoonmaker) Wilson

Boonville- Roberta E. (Schoonmaker) Wilson, 66, of East Schuyler St., passed away after a long illness, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, while under the loving care of her daughter, Stacia, son, David and hospice.


Roberta was born in Constableville, on November 17, 1955, a daughter of Robert E. and Blanche L. Hicks Schoonmaker.  She grew up on Maple Avenue, Remsen, where she received her education, graduating from Remsen Central School, with the Class of 1974.  Thereafter for many years Roberta was employed as a mental health aid at Marcy Psychiatric Center, Marcy, NY.  Later for fifteen years she served as an EMT with Prospect Ambulance.  Following that, Roberta’s final employment was for several years as an EMT with Am Care Ambulance of Rome.  In 2007, she relocated from Remsen, to her present home on East Schuyler St. in Boonville.  


In 2006, Roberta joined Harland J. Hennessey Post 5538 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she achieved life member status and served as President of the Auxiliary from 2012-2013.  In addition, she enjoyed classic movies, music from the 60’s and playing online games with Facebook friends, and most importantly her dog Bear.  


Survived by her three children David A. Rodriguez, Stacia J. Schoonmaker, both of Boonville, Justin S. Martin and his wife Emily Morris Martin, Whitesboro; her five grandchildren; also surviving are two siblings, Raymond G Briggs Jr of Deridder, LA and Cheri Blim, Auburn NY along with several nieces, nephews and extended family. Proceeded in death by her parents and her brother Alan Schoonmaker.


Services are Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where visitation hours are Sunday 1-4 P.M. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the VFW Post 5538 located in Boonville NY.
