Boonville- Thomas John Luchsinger Sr., 85, of Boonville, NY passed away peacefully January 9, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Hartford, NY after a short illness.

 Thomas was born in Syracuse, NY on September 5, 1937, to John Thomas and Ruth Leader Luchsinger.

 

Thomas enjoyed the great outdoors as well as watching and caring for wild animals; not to mention his many canine companions throughout the many years. He was an avid league bowler for many years at the Boonville Bowl. Thomas was the founder of the New York State Timber Producer Association and was the first president of the New York State Timber Producers Association.  He started logging at the tender age of 18 years and he established The Luchsinger Logging Company, where he spent many years providing firewood to the local residents and sawmills in the area. He enjoyed pulling demolition derby cars off the track at the Boonville and Lewis County Fairs for many years. He also snow blowed and snow plowed many a drive way in the north country during the years, with his big bad yellow 1976 ford pick-up truck that you could hear a mile away.

Thomas Is survived by his beloved wife Linda Luchsinger of 40 years, Thomas married Linda (Staring) Luchsinger on April 9, 1983; his children are Thomas Luchsinger Jr., and Susan Card. He has 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He also has a stepdaughter, Cherie and Thomas Gettman as well as stepson, Shawn Staring all of Boonville; 3 step grandchildren, and 1 great step granddaughter.   

 He is predeceased by his mother and father, Ruth and John Luchsinger of Boonville, brother, Richard Luchsinger, Syracuse and sister, Joyice Trest.

 

A funeral service will be held on January 27, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
