Glenfield-Violet June Yauger, 91, passed away on August 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Merry and Raymond Hauver.

She was born in the Town of Russia, Herkimer County on March 19, 1932 a daughter of Robert and Gertrude Day White. She grew up in Port Leyden, Carthage and Boonville area attending high school in Port Leyden. She then attended Rome Nursing School and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked for Disabled Persons Action Organization taking kids to various functions. Violet was a live-in caretaker for Margaret Massaro for many years, she was also employed at Lewis County General Hospital and Vale Haven Home for Adults, Boonville. She was a life member of the Harland J. Hennessey VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Adirondack Long Rifles. Violet volunteered at the Woodsmen's Field Days for many years. She loved to play bingo at the Casino, cribbage, jigsaw puzzles, reading mysteries and traveling. Violet greatly loved her family and grandchildren where she enjoyed spending time with them in Florida and North Carolina.

Surviving are her children Brian and Mary Egnew, David Egnew, Matthew and Michelle Yauger, and Merry and Raymond Hauver; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Edwin Yauger in July 2006, 2 children, Dale Egnew in 1998 and Patricia (Penny) Egnew in 2015, grandson, Keith Egnew in 2021 and 12 siblings.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will be from 1 - 3 p.m. prior to the service with burial in the West Leyden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.
