Chalk the Walk for Suicide Prevention Month takes place at the Lewis County Courthouse in Lowville Monday and Tuesday, September 21 and 22 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Join in spreading awareness, hope, and kindness.

St. John's Catholic Church in Lyons Falls, NY hosts a chicken and biscuit drive-thru dinner Tuesday, September 22 with pick-ups beginning at 4:30 p.m. The $13 meal includes chicken, homemade biscuits and gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and dessert. Carthage hosts a free 5K Walk/Run for Recovery on Tuesday, September 22. Registration opens at 4:30 p.m. in the Recreation Building, and the walk starts from the park at 5:30 p.m. The event raises awareness about addiction and supports local prevention and recovery programs. Erwin Library and Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center host their annual Community Shred Day on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A Confidata truck in the parking lot behind the library will shred and recycle personal papers, tax returns, medical records, and more at no charge. A one day fishing tournament to raise proceeds for Shane Muckey, who is battling a recent cancer diagnosis, will be held Saturday, September 26 on the Salmon River in Oswego County. Entry fee is $20 and all New York State DEC regulations must be adhered to. Fish may be entered from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 92 Bridge Street Altmar, NY 13302, which is where the weigh-in station is located. There will be raffles at the weigh-in station from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
