Sunday, November 9th

 

  • LOWVILLE 11/9-Lowville VFW is having several Veteran’s Day Weekend events with something for everyone.  Saturday, November 8th through Tuesday, November 11th, sign up for Fuel our Vets. This program provides heating vouchers.  Veterans are eligible to sign up once per day starting Saturday, November 8th.  Sunday November 9th is the 2nd day to sign up for Fuel our Vets .  From 2-5pm will be free line dancing.  Lessons and Dancing with DJ Scott Raymond. Tuesday, November 11th, Veterans DAy, Annual Veterans Day Service at the park at 11 am with all local service organizations.  From noon til 4 at the Lowville VFW is a free spaghetti dinner for veterans and active duty service members.  They will also serve the public for $8 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12, and 5 and under af free.  At 3pm Post leadership will conduct a service at their Memorial Wall  to celebrate those who currently serve or have served in the Armed Forces.  At 5pm, the drawings for the Fuel our vets program will take place.

 

  • CARTHAGE-Dance on Sunday, November 9th from 2-5pm with the Nelson Brothers Band at the VFW Post 7227 at 668 West End Ave in Carthage.  $8 cover charge.  Cash bar and food concession available. For more information, call the post at 315-493-0530

Monday, November 10th

 

  •  CONSTABLEVILLE-The November Meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Constableville meeting has been changed and  will be held Monday, November 10th at 6pm at the Village Library on Main St. 

 

  • LYONS FALLS-The Adirondack Community Chorus, directed by Peg Nuspliger, will present a free concert in honor of America’s veterans, “This is My Country,” on Monday, November 10th, 7 p.m., at Forest Presbyterian Church, 4019 Center Street in Lyons Falls. Josh Weiler is the accompanist, with percussionist Bill Sawyer, and Vicky Allen on flute and bass.

 

  • OLD FORGE-On Monday, November 10, at 11 a.m., the Old Forge Library, located at 220 Crosby Blvd., will host a special Veterans Day gathering to honor and celebrate all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, both living and deceased. This heartfelt event will offer the community an opportunity to express gratitude and recognize the sacrifices made by those who have protected our nation. The program will include a short reading reflecting on the meaning of Veterans Day, which is officially observed on November 11, followed by a light brunch. Everyone is welcome to attend, share a meal, and personally thank our veterans for their service. Please note that the library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, but that traditional Veterans Day events are planned in the Old Forge community on the 11th.

 

  • LOWVILLE-Anchor Recovery Center of Northern NY has a Group Session called Coffee Chat on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am at the Lowville Center 7714 Number Three Rd.  Coffee and Conversation.

 

  •  PORT LEYDEN-The Port Leyden Group of Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Monday at 7:30PM at the Port Leyden Fire Hall

 

Tuesday, November 11th

    • LOWVILLE- Anchor Recovery Center of Northern NY will have an alternative to 12-Step Meetings, called “All Recovery” on Tuesdays from 1-2pm at 7714 Number Three Rd in Lowville.  They welcome all who struggle with addiction, are affected by addiction, or support the recovery lifestyle. 

     

    • BOONVILLE-Summer Story Hour with Mrs. Hannah every Tuesday at 10am at the Erwin Library in Boonville. Every Tuesday Mrs. Hannah will read a specially picked story, have a fun craft, and delicious snack! Children of all ages can come enjoy the fun! Cost: FREE

     

    • LOWVILLE-Join the Lowville Free Library for a weekly storytime, every Tuesday morning at 11 am with books, songs, movement, and crafts! We start each morning with 10-15 minutes of playtime, then read together, do some movement and interactive fun, and finish up with another activity like a craft or game. 

     

    • BOONVILLE-Erwin Yarniacs Meet every Tuesday from 1-3pm at the Erwin Library in Boonville to work together on their knitting and crocheting projects. This group is for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and together will help you get the project done.

    Thursday, November 13th

     

    • BOONVILLE-9th Annual 3D Blood Drive in memory of Dalton Dorrity. It is held at the Adirondack High School on Thursday November 13th. 9am-6pm.  Donate Blood through the Red Cross and also participate in the fundraiser for the Dalton Douglas Dorrity Scholarship & Foundation.  Raffles, a bake sale, and pizza will be available by the slice. Donate Life will be there to answer questions about organ donation. Come say hi and spread some kindness! All proceeds go to the Dalton Dorrity scholarship fund. Make a difference in memory of Dalton!

     

    • LYONS FALLS-The Lyons Falls Library, 3918 High Street, welcomes everyone to join Pivot of Lewis County for light refreshments and a wellness activity on Thursday November 13th, at 3:30 p.m., entitled “Taking Care of Yourself.” Please sign up at the desk.

     

    • BOONVILLE-The Toe Path Trekkers have their Thursday evening run and walks starting at 6:00pm. We are open to all and you may select your distance. Some walk strollers around the loop in Erwin park while others may run 10 miles on the towpath. We meet at the Lansing, upper Pavilion, off Moose River Rd in Erwin Park. They have water at the 1.5 mile distance on the towpath. Check out our Facebook pages and message there with questions.

     

    Friday, November 14th

     

    • PORT LEYDEN-Thanksgiving Food Drive on Friday, November 14th during Bingo Night from 6pm-9pm at the Port Leyden Fire Hall.  All donations will be sent to St. Martin’s Rectory at 7108 North St in Port Leyden.  Join us to collect non-perishable food and hygiene essentials for family through the local food pantry.  Items to consider: canned and boxed foods like cereal and soups, peanut butter, shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, and feminine products.

    • OLD FORGE-The Old Forge Library's last Fall Story Time session is on Friday November 14, from 10:15 to 11:00 am. These fun-filled sessions are created especially for children ages 3 to 6 and are led by library staff. Each 45-minute Story Time includes stories, games, crafts, creative play, songs, and other light activities that spark imagination and encourage learning. Younger children are welcome, too, though toddlers need to have an adult with them. Story Time has been a beloved tradition at the Old Forge Library for many decades. It's a special part of early childhood for many in the community and continues to bring families together through a love of reading and play. To help with planning, registration is encouraged.     • OLD FORGE-Friday, November 14th, The Old Forge Library will have Sensory Play-Color Mixing at 2:30 pm.  This program provides a safe and inclusive environment for neurodiverse patrons and community members to explore textures, sounds, and visual experiences.  Sensory play encourages creativity, relaxation, focus, and cognitive engagement for participants of all abilities.  It can reduce stress, promote mindfulness, enhance motor skills, and provide opportunities for social interaction and self-expression.  The program is open to all ages and abilities.     Saturday, November 15th

     

    •  OLD FORGE-Certified instructor, Nia Tormey, will instruct up to eight students for a free CPR, First Aid and Certification Class at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., on Saturday November 15th from 10am - 2 pm. CPR classes teach life-saving skills that can increase survival rates during emergencies like cardiac arrest. They boost confidence in handling critical situations, help others in need, and may be required for certain jobs. CPR training also often includes first aid knowledge, providing broader emergency response abilities. Library programs are free and open to all. The class size is limited to 8 participants, so pre-registration is required. If the class is full, the library staff will put you on a waiting list for a future class. CPR and first aid classes are made possible by a generous grant from The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation.

     

    • LOWVILLE-Time for your pets to give Santa their wish list! Join North Country Pet Adoption Services for Pawtraits With Santa on Saturday, November 15th, from noon to 4 p.m. at 5501 Trinity Ave in Lowville. Bring your furry family members to meet Santa and get their holiday photos taken by Three Dog's Photography. Your $25 donation supports The Encore Project, a new initiative that rescues and cares for homeless senior dogs and cats. Capture some holiday magic and help senior pets find the love they deserve.     • REMSEN-The Remsen Arts Center presents the 9th Annual Model Railroad Show on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10am-3pm at 9627 Main Street, Remsen, NY. Free General Admission, donations accepted. There will be operating layouts in G O S N scale.There will be trains and accessories to purchase at the show. Train reference books and videos will also be on display. This is a family event geared for all  ages.     • BOONVILLE-Spirit Animal Sanctuary is having a fundraiser on Saturday, November 15th from noon til 5pm at 2100 NY 12-D in Boonville. There will be basket raffles with drawings beginning at 4pm, Food, Drinks, DJ Unicorn Chaos playing music, and Fun.  They are seeking donations of baskets and other new items, and if you bring a bag of dog food or dog treats, you will be entered into a Door Prize Drawing.  Come support the pups!

     

    • LOWVILLE-Weekend activities for youth ages 13-21 at Maple Ridge Center on Saturdays from 12-4pm.     • FORESTPORT-St. Patrick’s Thrift Shop in Forestport will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon beginning Saturday, April 5 and will be open Saturdays through the fall. Donations are accepted and will go towards the food pantry.

    • CONSTABLEVILLE-Tickets on Sale at St. Mary’s for Fabulous Christmas Gifts Constableville. St. Mary’s is trying something new in their fundraising efforts for their youth and Faith Formation activities, and this change could help ticket holders with their Christmas shopping! That is because the first-place winner will receive a Virtual Reality Headset, the second-place winner will receive a 50” smart television and the third-place winner will receive a ten-inch tablet. The drawing will be livestreamed after the 10am Mass on December 21st. Tickets are $5 a piece, or 5 for $20.     • JEFFERSON/LEWIS COUNTIES:  Are you in an immediate mental health crisis?  You are not alone.     • LEWIS COUNTY-Dial-a-Ride & Free Rides for Seniors with Lewis County Public Transportation.  Dial-a-Ride provides curb to curb transportation in Lewis County.  Call in advance, schedule your trip, and get picked up at home.  Call 315-376-5313 if you’re a senior, and ride for free.  

     

    •  LEWIS COUNTY-Lewis County Office for the Aging offers a home delivered meal program where meals are delivered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with a frozen meal available for Tuesdays and Fridays providing 5 meals total throughout the week.  This program is for people 60+ who are more home bound and maybe unable to make healthy balanced meals for themselves. They also have Community dining sites where people 60+ that are more independent can gather and have lunch together Monday through Thursdays all of which serve around 11:30am-11:45am  Croghan- Steepleview courts.  Harrisville - Harris Courts. Lyons Falls - McManus Hotel  Copenhagen- Copenhagen United Church.  Lowville - Maple Ridge Center. These Programs are funded by Federal, State, and local sources. There is a suggested Contribution of 3.50 per meal. Cash, checks, and SNAP are accepted.

     

    • LOWVILLE-Medical Equipment loan program by the Lowville Lions.   The Lions Club is able to provide gently used medical equipment to members of the community.  Hospital beds, canes, walkers, bathroom supports, Hoyer lift, and more.  All of the equipment can be loaned at no cost.  Donations are also accepted to replenish their supply.  Contact This email address is being protected from spambots.     • LEWIS County-Friendly Calling & Visiting Program for older adults.  Do you know someone who could use a friendly call or visit throughout the week?  The Lewis County Office for the Aging has Volunteers for that.  Please give their office a call at 315-376-5313 with the name of someone who could use somebody for a visit or a check-in,  and they will be set up.  They are looking for volunteers who are willing to go into the homes of our older adults for companionship, having a cup of coffee together, helping out around the house, running errands or even shopping with them or for them.     • LOWVILLE-Lewis County Office for the Aging offers screening for memory concerns.  For more information contact the office for the aging at 315-376-5313.  If needed, individuals will be connected to health care professionals for a full evaluation and appropriate treatment.

     

    • LOWVILLE-The Lewis County Office for the Aging is currently recruiting volunteers to assist with their Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program. This program provides counseling on: Medicare Coverage, Veterans Administration benefits, benefit programs for those with low income.  Please contact Christina Baker, HIICAP Coordinator at 315-376-5313 

     

    • BOONVILLE-Applications for next season’s Hometown Hero banner are available for pickup at the American Legion and the VFW.  Anyone wishing to obtain a Hometown Hero banner for 2026 must have their application in by Jan 30th. The program is open to any past or current service member with ties to the greater Boonville area. This year's banners will be coming down after veteran's day and may be picked up at the legion after that.     • BOONVILLE-Dodge Pratt Northam Arts & Community Center in Boonville is having a Fall Can and Bottle Drive through November 17th Drop off cans and bottles Monday through Friday from 12-5pm at 106 Schuyler St in Boonville. Your support directly benefits their youth programs for the arts. 

     

    • BOONVILLE-Every 4th Saturday of the month, Bluegrass Jam at Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center in Boonville from 11am-1:30 pm.  Bring your instrument and come jam along.  Open to the public, audience welcome!

     

    • BOONVILLE-Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center in Boonville  is having a Got Sneakers fundraiser .  Drop off your old shoes at 106 Schuyler Street in Boonville Monday through Thursday 12-5pm.  By recycling your old sneakers with GotSneakers, you’re keeping waste out of landfills and giving your shoes a second life. 

     

    • BOONVILLE-FORESTPORT-There is a No Hunger November Food Drive going on from now until the end of November for Food Pantries within the Adirondack School District.  There are multiple drop-off locations throughout Southern Lewis and Northern Oneida County, including several local businesses.  Food Pantries that will benefit are Matthew’s Place Thrift Store and Food Pantry on Main St in Boonville, Helping Hands Food Pantry at the Boonville Methodist Church, Adirondack Connected Community Schools, and Christ Our Hope St. Patrick’s Food Pantry in Forestport.     • WATERTOWN-The Children’s Home of Jefferson County (CHJC) is proud to partner with Jessica and Greg Hurlbut and St. Lawrence University in the upcoming 125-Mile Adoption Awareness Run, an event dedicated to promoting adoption awareness and celebrating families who make a difference in the lives of children in need. The run begins on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 3:00 PM at St. Lawrence University, 23 Romoda Drive, Dean-Eaton Hall, Parking Lot H, and concludes at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Spanning 125 miles and divided into 36 legs, each lasting approximately 40 minutes, this unique relay-style event brings together runners, advocates, and community partners to raise awareness for adoption and support adoptive families across the region. A post-run celebration will take place immediately following the final leg of the run at Dean-Eaton Hall, offering participants and supporters a chance to gather and celebrate this inspiring event.     •  BOONVILLE-Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center is having their Christmas in the Country Open House on Saturday, November 29th from 10 am -2pm at 106 Schuyler St in Boonville. They will feature craft vendors, games ,holiday refreshments, festive music, a winter village/train display, wreaths and holiday greens, as well as raffles to benefit DPN programs. Admission is $3 for adults, or a non-perishable food item or new toiletry item to be distributed through local services.  Children 12 and under are free.

    • BOONVILLE-The Adirondack Community Chorus (ACC), directed by Peg Nuspliger will be having a winter concert  “A Classic Christmas” will be performed on Saturday, December 13th, 2 p.m. at Boonville Presbyterian Church. “No audition is required to participate in our concerts,” Director Nuspliger said. “If you like to sing, and can commit to our rehearsal schedule, come join us.” Rehearsals will be on Sundays at 1 p.m. at Forest  Presbyterian Church.
