WASHINGTON, D.C. - The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is just shy of $4.30 to start off the week of October 19.

According to the AAA, gas prices aren’t budging much as crude oil prices remain high, once again ranging near $100-per barrel.

The national average has stayed above $4.00 per gallon since late July and is currently more than a dollar higher than it was this time last year.

Officials say the fall season typically bring lower gas prices, but volatility in the oil market has led to seasonal record highs this year.

Here in New York State, the average price of gas is $4.41 as of this publication, down slightly from $4.48 last month. It was averaging around $3.13 last October.

Meanwhile, the national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 41 cents.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, AAA spokesperson, Patti Artessa, joined North Country News and discussed fuel and oil prices. Be sure to listen here:
