The national average price of gas here in the U.S was $3.51 Tuesday morning. That’s almost 15-cents less than a month ago now, says the AAA.

“Gas prices will likely keep up this slow sag now that we are past the Memorial Day travel weekend and more locations, east of the Rockies, will be selling gas below $3 a gallon,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.

“But it’s time to start weather watching as the Atlantic Hurricane Season begins June 1st, and forecasters predict it will be very active. A storm impacting the Gulf Coast oil production and refining centers could push prices temporarily higher, so stay tuned.”

A year ago, the national average was around $3.55. In New York State, drivers are paying an average of $3.65 at the pumps, which is less than the $3.73 a month ago now and less than it was a year ago when it was $3.70.

Between the Boonville and Lowville, NY regions, drivers have been paying in the lower $3.60 range and as high as the upper $3.70 range, according to GasBuddy as of Tuesday morning.

If you take a look in the city of Watertown, NY, GasBuddy is reporting a very similar price range there, with some select pumps offering prices as low as $3.51.

Despite a couple of notable $3.29 offerings in the Syracuse, NY region, most establishments out that way are offering prices similar to the North Country.

Finally in the Mohawk Valley Region, GasBuddy reported prices as of Tuesday morning in the cities of Rome and Utica, NY that reflected similar to our area.
