BOONVILLE- Adirondack Central School students were dismissed early in the wake of a threat received late Wednesday morning.

According to a notice from the district office, officials first detected a threatening email around 11:00 a.m. As of this report, officials believe this incident to be a "swatting" email.

"Criminals use swatting to make false threats, and to divert police," the district said in their statement.

"Other schools in NY also received this email. We are in communication with the Sheriff's office. We are sweeping all buildings to look for any unusual objects."

In addition to students being dismissed early, all after school activities and evening events were cancelled.
