ALBANY, NY- The April 1 state budget deadline has passed, which means that New York will once again pass a late budget.
“More financial burdens have been placed on New Yorkers who are already facing significant affordability challenges,” said Senator Joe Griffo.
“New York is already leading the nation in outmigration, crippling our local economies and forcing families to tighten their belts while bloating the state's spending plan,” Senator Mark Walczyk said.
“New York needs a budget that strengthens public safety, supports infrastructure investments and makes our state more affordable,” said Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush.
“This lack of timeliness and complete disregard for New York families, businesses, schools and organizations that rely on a timely budget from the state is unacceptable,” said Assemblyman Robert Smullen.
A budget extender has set a new deadline for Thursday, April 3. You may remember the budget was late into the month of May in 2023.
Last-year, it took lawmakers until April 20 to finalize a deal.
We will continue sharing updates until the budget is passed, before inviting North Country lawmakers to provide their insight and reactions.
