Assault charge filed against Southern Lewis County resident, Troopers say

LEYDEN- A local resident is accused of assault in Southern Lewis County, authorities say.

Lucas M. Phelps, 23, of Port Leyden, NY was arrested late Thursday night by the New York State Police (Lowville). Phelps is formally charged with one misdemeanor count of assault in the third-degree (w/intent to cause physical injury).

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from an assault complaint in the town of Leyden, which was reported Wednesday night.

At press time, police said that Phelps was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details to report.
