MONTAGUE & TURIN- The 19th annual SNIRT Run is aimed for Saturday, March 30, 2024 and officials are warning of some roads that will be closed to the event.
According to a statement published on social media by the Barnes Corners Sno-Pals, the group responsible for heading SNIRT, the town of Montague has asked that participants avoid the Parker Road, while the town of Turin is also requesting riders to stay off the Lee Gulf Road.
SNIRT officials are warning that these roads are not a part of the SNIRT event and will be closed.
The date for this-year was announced following a decision back in February, which involved the town of Montague declining a request by SNIRT advocates to make an exception to a local law, which was passed last fall and is aimed at preventing any such motorized vehicle events from the town roads from April 1 – May 15.
SNIRT officials say the annual ride is an ATV/UTV road event only, meaning ATV and/or UTV machines on designated roads only.

Participants are asked to remain on all designated roads and to respect private property. "In previous years, there was substantial damage to fields and road right of ways," the Barnes Corners Sno-Pals said in a statement to social media.
"Do not go on snow covered trails not designated for the event. Many of these are off limits to ATVs/UTVs."
According to officials, participants will be given a trip stamp card and a map that shows the designated route and legal “open” roads to use for the event.
Once registered, riders may start from any one of the participating businesses listed on the card. SNIRT participants will be given a sticker to place on their ATV to let law enforcement know that they are a participant in the event.
