ONEIDA COUNTY- Emergency services in the Boonville, NY area responded to a flurry of minor motor vehicle accidents Wednesday.
According to Boonville Fire Chief Dave Pritchard Jr., the first accident occurred at the intersection of Kerwin Road and Route 12 (Lewis County side), where a vehicle ended up in the ditch. A specific time frame was not provided.
The next one involved a car crashing into a pole at the intersection of Route 12 and Lover’s Lane at around 3:00 p.m. Only one vehicle was involved and there were no reported injuries.
The third accident occurred on Moose River Road shortly before 5:00 p.m., where a car went off the road and came to rest leaning towards the canal. Emergency responders had to stabilize the vehicle before rescuing the people inside, Chief Pritchard Jr. said. The occupants signed off from treatment.
We were made aware of another incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Post Street, possibly involving a hit-and-run; although we could not obtain any details at the time from Oneida County 9-1-1 dispatch and the fire chief didn't have any specifics to mention at press time.
We will follow up if any further details surface.
With the winter weather conditions Wednesday, Chief Pritchard Jr. says it is likely that slippery road conditions were a contributing factor in these accidents.
He warns drivers to take extra caution during the winter months, especially amidst any variety of weather conditions.
