BOONVILLE- A North Country area resident is accused of violating a local code after their dog managed to escape and attack a man who was nearby with his dogs.
Patricia L. Sanders, 63, of Lowville, NY was arrested and charged by the Boonville Village Police on Tuesday for one count of "dog at large," which is a violation of the local Boonville law.
It was sometime around 11:30 a.m. that morning when the village police responded to the 400 block of Main Street after dispatch advised of a dangerous dog in that area.
Per an investigation, Boonville Police determined that a large, mixed-breed dog somehow managed to escape from Sanders before attacking a man and his dogs in a neighboring yard.
The male victim ultimately managed to fend the loose dog off, but not before suffering an injury from the attack. Police said one of the man's dogs also suffered injury in the attack, though further specifics were not provided.
At press time, police said that Sanders was issued with an appearance ticket and is due in Boonville Town Court at a later date.
