BOONVILLE- Authorities say appearance tickets have been issued to a pair of male juveniles, who are reportedly responsible for vandalizing a local park last month.

Boonville Village Police began reviewing surveillance footage after officials discovered a sign had been stolen and a pair of trash receptacles had been damaged at Erwin Park.

According to Officer in Charge Fred Robenski, the incident reportedly took place on November 10, where surveillance footage shows a dark colored SUV entering the parking lot, next to the lower pavilion along State Route 12.

Upon arrival, the footage shows two individuals immediately kicking over and damaging a steel covered trash can, while also destroying a plastic recycling receptacle.

Furthermore, the security footage shows one of the subjects ripping a 12” by 18” sign from a wooden post and removing it from the property. That sign has yet to be recovered as of this publication, Robenski said.

The two teenage suspects, ages 13 and 14, have been issued with appearance tickets and are due to appear in Oneida County Juvenile Probation at a later date.

At press time, there was no further information available regarding potential charges against any additional offenders.
