Volunteer firefighters from four departments fought a large brush fire yesterday afternoon off Peckham Road in the town of Watson.
The whistle blew 3 times in the Village of Lowville starting at 1:30PM as fire fighters from Lowville and New Bremen were called to the scene. All engines from both departments were called to the area, described as a dense section of pine trees. A short time later, brush trucks from Martinsburg and Croghan fire departments and a Martinsburg side-by-side vehicle were requested, and manpower from all four departments was sought. A state forest ranger also responded to the scene. The fire was declared under control at 2:40PM.
