Although a judge’s approval is still needed, a board of cannabis regulators gave a thumbs up to a deal Monday that will settle lawsuits that have hindered recreational dispensaries from opening in New York.

This development is according to the Associated Press.

If approved in court, the deal would reportedly lift an order that has prevented New York State from processing or issuing retail marijuana licenses since August.

This comes in the wake of lawsuits that were filed over rules that promised several of the first issued licenses to those with past drug convictions.

New York’s Cannabis Control Board says over 400 recreational retail licenses will have the green light if this settlement is approved by a judge.

Board members did not immediately provide any specifics included within the deal.
