Congresswoman Stefanik snaps back at resolution by Congressman Goldman to condemn her over support of January 6 insurrectionists

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) introduced a resolution this week to censure Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for conduct unbecoming of a member of Congress, including her consistent support of insurrectionists who attacked the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Just one day following the third anniversary of the January 6 attacks on the U.S. Capitol, Congresswoman Stefanik referred to the duly convicted insurrectionists as ‘hostages,’ a move that caught the attention of Goldman.

“January 6th was the gravest attack on American democracy since the Civil War and Congresswoman Stefanik’s persistent and continued support for the perpetrators of an insurrection is contemptuous,” Congressman Goldman said.

Stefanik wasted no time snapping back, issuing a statement that mocked the Congressman's resolution as a “desperate” attempt by “Failed Far Left House Democrats” to undermine her for being “one of the most effective Members of Congress going on offense every single day exposing Democrats and Joe Biden’s corruption and lies.”

“Dan Goldman called for President Trump to be ‘eliminated’ and was widely condemned for his dangerous and violent threat," her office said.

"Dan Goldman and Democrats are desperate because they know Joe Biden is going to lose this November.”

The Congressman accuses Stefanik of continuing her support of the January 6th insurrectionists, since the attack, by filing what he calls "bogus" and "vindictive ethics complaints" against a federal judge overseeing various criminal cases involving January 6 insurrectionists.

Furthermore, Goldman alleges that Stefanik falsely referred to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of Donald Trump as “attempts to criminalize the First Amendment,” and peddling conspiracy theories related to the ‘Big Lie’ that helped incite the January 6 insurrection.

"Her rhetoric betrays her oath of office and the House of Representatives and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms," the Congressman emphasized.
