WASHINGTON, D.C. – North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21) is praising the President’s latest move to deploy the National Guard on the Nation’s Capital city in an effort to cut down on what Mr. Trump calls “violent gangs,” “bloodthirsty criminals,” “roving mobs of wild youth,” “drugged-out maniacs,” and “homeless people.”

“I strongly support President Trump’s law and order directive in Washington, D.C.,” she said in a released statement.

“Just like Washington, D.C., New York’s failed cashless bail law fuels devastating crime that harms law-abiding families and emboldens violent criminals.”

This development surfaces despite numerous other sources suggesting the overall crime rate in D.C. has decreased in recent years.

New York’s bail reform law has been the subject of frequent and harsh scrutiny by law enforcement members and several state lawmakers.

Rep. Stefanik has been an outspoken critic as well.

The law had much Democratic support and was officially enacted only a few months before the COVID pandemic.

The original intent of New York’s Bail Reform revolved around the idea of equality, where one’s income or financial situation should not be a factor for when it comes to bail.
