After pushing numerous gun control reforms as apart of the SAFE Act, Gov.. Cuomo stated he does not want to rush the launch of the database for ammunition background checks.
The 2013 controversial gun-control laws had phrasing that would require gun dealers to perform a background check on all ammunition sales. As previously reported, State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico stated that the database is a work in progress. In response, Cuomo understood the plea and responded that he would, “rather they do it right than they rush it and waste money and come up with bad information." D’Amico has not given a timeline on the databases completion.
