
ROME- An animal cruelty complaint from last month has led to the arrest of a city resident.
On Monday, the Rome City Police Department arrested and charged Carrie J. Bush, 32, of Rome, NY with a misdemeanor count of violating New York’s Ag & Markets Law (failure to provide sustenance).
On May 14, patrols were notified of a possible animal cruelty case via the Humane Society of Rome, involving a dog.
According to police, the dog had a significant leg injury that appeared to have been neglected. The investigation revealed the dog had injuries that included a broken jaw and a severely broken leg.
The injuries to the dog’s leg were so severe it required amputation.
Police allege that Bush failed to provide the dog with adequate treatment.
While in custody, Bush was also found to be in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine, officers reported. She was additionally charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.
At press time, police said that Bush was held for an arraignment, but then released pending another court date.
