ONEIDA COUNTY- The man who crashed his car into a local creek late Friday managed to escape only with minor injuries, according to authorities.
It was shortly before 11:00 p.m. when emergency responders were called out to Main Street in the town of Annsville after a car had crashed into Fish Creek.
Investigators determined that Cameron Oneil, 18, of Camden, NY, was operating a gray 2018 Volkswagon sedan in a northerly direction.
Police mentioned that Oneil fell asleep at the wheel, exited the left shoulder of the road, crashed through a metal barricade and landed 20-feet down into Fish Creek.
Cameron managed to free himself from the wreckage and get help from a neighboring house.
He was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Oneil was issued a citation for moving from lane unsafely and is returnable to the town of Annsville Court at a later date.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Taberg Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and Mike's Auto.
