Driver stopped by police in Lowville charged for alleged meth possession

LOWVILLE-A traffic stop Wednesday morning resulted in a drug possession charge against a Lewis County area resident.

According to the Lowville Village Police, Thomas D. Rice, 42, of Castorland, NY is formally charged with one count of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.

Rice was reportedly pulled over by patrols on Bostwick Street and during the traffic stop, police allege that he possessed 8-grams of meth.

At press time, police said that Rice was issued with several traffic tickets and an appearance ticket, all of which are returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.
