TOWN OF MARTINSBURG-A 29 year old Erie County, NY man is facing numerous vehicle violations after being was injured in a snowmobile accident on Rector Road in the Town of Martinsburg. On Monday, February 19th at 10:42 PM, Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified of a snowmobile crash with an injury on Rector Road trail. Upon arrival, deputies reported that the operator of the snowmobile had fled the scene. The operator, Nicholas P. Roberts of Elma was operating a Polaris sled eastbound when he reportedly failed to negotiate a curve in the trail and hit a tree. Roberts left the scene and was transported to another location where he was treated and taken by Turin ambulance to Lewis County General Hospital. He was then transported to S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical Center for further treatment. Roberts was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets for the following: Reckless Operation, Imprudent Speed and Failure to report a Snowmobile Accident. Robers will answer the charges in the Town of Martinsburg Court at a later date.
