LEWIS COUNTY- Local authorities are investigating what sparked a vehicle fire that spread through part of a workshop garage early Wednesday in Croghan, NY.
Fire alarms sounded shortly before 5:00 a.m. after a witness saw flames coming from a truck at 9843 State Route 812, according to the county’s Office of Emergency Management.
By the time Croghan Firefighters arrived, the truck was completely engulfed in a ball of fire. The truck was reportedly located towards the back of the garage, which is where the flames managed to spread to the roof.
With swift action, firefighters managed to blunt the damage to a rear wall and a portion of the roof.
There were some contents that sustained smoke and water damage as well. Meanwhile, the truck was destroyed.
According to emergency officials, the structure is owned by Joeseph Lyndeker. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
Beaver Falls, Castorland and New Bremen Fire Departments all provided mutual aid.
Members from the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Search & Rescue and the county’s Cause & Origin Team all provided assistance.
