Felony arrest made after inmate being held on murder charge punches fellow inmate at Oneida County Correctional Facility

ONEIDA COUNTY- An assault late last month at the Oneida County Correctional Facility has resulted in a felony arrest.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved two inmates. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Gregory Mignot Jr., 47, originally from Rome, NY for one felony count of assault in the second-degree.

It is reported that Mignot Jr. punched another inmate in the face while they were working their way to a newly assigned cell in a housing unit.

The inmate was taken to Wynn Hospital and received sutures for wounds suffered in the assault.

At press time, Mignot Jr. was processed for arraignment.

Authorities say that Mignot Jr. is currently being held on a murder charge from the city of Rome, NY.
