Firefighters confirm dog was lost in overnight house blaze in Forestport

FORESTPORT- Firefighters say a home was destroyed in an overnight blaze and a dog perished in the flames.

It happened shortly after midnight on January 26. Forestport Fire Department was the primary responder to 12056 Woodhull Road, where dispatchers were alerted of a working structure fire.

Barneveld, Otter Lake, Remsen, Stittville and Woodgate were all called for mutual aid.

Forestport Fire Chief, Mike Clover, says State Fire Investigators are working to determine a cause.

No human injuries were reported, but Chief Clover confirmed that a dog was lost in the flames.

Northstar Ambulance and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
