It used to be unlawful, but New York is now among the other dominos that have fallen for legally growing and selling recreational cannabis.

According to the Associated Press, the state is now celebrating the growth of its first legal marijuana plants destined for market.

The thin, green leafed plants we’re all familiar with for the most part have begun reaching for the sun at farms and growing establishments statewide.

With sales possibly destined for approval by year’s end, the state has given first dibs for 203 CBD hemp farmers a first attempt at preparing their crops for legal sales.

However, it’s reported that neighboring New Jersey took a different approach by initially relying on their established medical growers.
