HERKIMER COUNTY- A former Correctional Officer has been indicted by Herkimer County Supreme Court for allegedly subjecting two female minors to sexual contact.

The indictment includes two felony counts of sex abuse in the first-degree against Joshua Bartlett, 50, of Utica, NY.

The indictment also includes two misdemeanor counts each of forcible touching and one misdemeanor count each of sex abuse in the second and third-degrees.

According to previous reports recently issued from the State Police, these charges stem from an ongoing investigation involving two female victims in Newport, NY.

The investigation determined Bartlett allegedly subjected the first victim to repeated sexual contact over a period of approximately six-years beginning when the victim was 11-years-old.

During the course of the investigation, a second victim came forward and reported Bartlett allegedly subjected her to unwanted sexual contact.

The second victim was reported to be 14-years-old at the time of the incident.

Bartlett was arraigned last Friday in Herkimer County and released after posting $30,000 cash bail.

In a separate matter, Bartlett admitted guilt in the death of Messiah Nantwi, the inmate who was beaten at Mid-State Correctional Facility in early March of last-year and ultimately died in the hospital.
