Scarchilli Oneida County Sheriff Bid

UTICA- A former police officer from the Mohawk Valley has announced his bid to run for Oneida County Sheriff.

Jim Scarchilli, who claims himself as Independent, will be running n the “We The People” party line, according to the latest updates from WKTV.

Scarchilli, who is also a local businessman, says his main focus includes protecting people’s constitutional rights, while also addressing issues within the Sheriff’s Office.

“Again I want to rebuild the morale, the morale is one of the biggest things that I hear being complained about at the sheriff's office now,” he told reporters.

“I know they just settled a contract which is great, I know they did get a nice raise which is great, but there's some more issues that definitely need to be looked at.”

By throwing his hat in the race, Scarchilli will take on current sheriff, Rob Maciol.

As a former police officer in Whitestown for several years, Scarchilli currently owns a window business in Utica and a cake shop in New Hartford.
