Governor Hochul met with U.S. Border Czar Homan on Friday to discuss immigration

ALBANY, NY- New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan met in-person on Friday to discuss immigration concerns statewide.

According to a statement released from Hochul’s office, she made it clear that she does not want militarized raids; no more plans for large-scale detention centers and no more attacks on law-abiding people.

“President Trump promised he would not engage in a federal immigration enforcement surge in New York unless we ask for it — and I made clear to Homan today that the request would never come,” the Governor said.

To clarify, Governor Hochul did express how she does not support people who have committed serious crimes remaining in the state.

“They should be deported,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile according to a separate publication from WWNY-TV, Homan, a North Country native, reportedly had hoped to discuss hospitals with Hochul, specifically the conundrum involving North Star Health Alliance.

With that said, reporters did not confirm if that topic was ever brought up during their Friday meeting.
