Grand jury indictment leads to felony rape arrest for Oneida County man, investigators say

ROME- A grand jury indictment has led to a felony rape arrest for a Mohawk Valley man, authorities say.

Michael Hamilton, 20, of Rome, NY was arrested this week by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. He is officially charged with felony rape in the second-degree.

Investigators allege that Hamilton had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female teen in the city of Rome last May.

The investigation sparked in July, with a county grand jury indictment following months later on January 6.

Hamilton was processed, arraigned and remanded to the county’s correctional facility without bail.

Police say an order of protection has been issued on the victim’s behalf and she has also been offered counseling services via the Child Advocacy Center.
