Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office arrests Cold Brook resident for alleged welfare fraud

HERKIMER COUNTY- The Sheriff’s Office says a local resident is facing a pair of felony charges for alleged welfare fraud.

According to investigators, Alexandra Hayes, 33, of Cold Brook, NY has been arrested on one felony count each of grand larceny and welfare fraud in the third-degrees.

Per an investigation, the Sheriff’s Office determined that Hayes received nearly $10,000 in SNAP benefits she was not qualified for.

Specifically, police say that Hayes failed to disclose required information regarding employment income and unemployment benefits.

Following processing, Hayes was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
