North Country Proudly Honors 2022

BOONVILLE- Hometown Hero Banner applications are due by no later than Monday, March 20.

If you've never noticed these military banners displayed throughout the village, they are simply to honor our local men and women who are serving or have served our U.S. Armed Forces.

"We're in our sixth-year now,' said North Country Proudly Honors spokesperson, Bob Lewis. 'We honor our military Veterans and our present day members of the military with these 3x5 banners that we hang on the light-poles here in the village of Boonville."

Listen to our latest on-air coverage with Bob Lewis for more details:

Since the program's inception six-years ago, there are other nearby communities throughout the North Country who have sparked their own programs.

As of this report, Mr. Lewis tells us there are at-least 7,000 townships across the country who have begun taking part in similar programs by honoring our servicemen and women.

Each-year, a total of 42 banners are put on display throughout Boonville and when we spoke with Mr. Lewis, he said there are about 15 slots still available for families to submit an application.

These applications can be obtained at Boonville Love Post American Legion; the Harland J. Hennessey VFW Post; Boonville Elks Lodge #2158 and Sattler's Barber Shop.

In addition, folks can contact Lori O'Connor at 315-942-2776 or Bob Lewis at 315-225-9566.

A special reception will be held this May prior to the banners being distributed and displayed, thanks to help from the Municipal Commission.

Stay tuned for those details.
