BOONVILLE- It sometimes can be a chore each year for the Boonville-Oneida County Fair to acquire enough volunteers to help park cars.

Fortunately this year, the fair association tells us that plenty of individuals and groups have been secured to assist parking cars for most of fair week.

However with that being said, the fair is still in need of volunteers for Saturday, July 30 - which traditionally tends be one of the busiest days of the week.

"When we have bigger things happening at the fair and we plan on having a lot larger attendance, so it's really important for us to be able to utilize that space for parking," spokesperson Jamie Day told us.

With country music star Tracy Byrd set to take the stage Saturday evening of the fair, Day is expecting a swelling of vehicles in the parking field throughout the day and leading up to the highly anticipated show.

"Without all of our volunteers, the fair wouldn't be able to go on each year."

If you have an organization and have the free time to help out, the fair association will reimburse your efforts with a donation. Individual volunteers are also accepted.

For any inquiries or to sign-up, be sure to call the Boonville-Oneida County Fair Office at 315-942-2251.

The 134th annual Boonville-Oneida County Fair begins Tuesday, July 26 and will run through Sunday, July 30. Opening night will feature the traditional parade through downtown, along with fireworks at dark at the fairgrounds.
