Totality on the Tug 2024

LOWVILLE- Much of the North Country will be in the path of totality for the highly anticipated and quickly approaching Great North American Eclipse, which is aimed for all to witness during the afternoon on Monday, April 8.

So far, there have been several eclipse viewing events and gatherings scheduled all throughout the local region, including right here in Lowville, NY.

Starting at 1:00 p.m. on eclipse day, folks are invited to 'Totality on the Tug' at the Lewis County Fairgrounds, a special event to commemorate this truly once in a lifetime opportunity.

Eclipse goers can expect to enjoy numerous food trucks on site, along with a cosmic cafe, lawn games, crafts, a story walk, and more.

"We are also opening up our big bathrooms earlier this year to make sure that we have bathrooms for everybody who plans on attending," said Lewis County Fair Manager and Totality on the Tug spokesperson, Rachel Lisk. Be sure to listen to our latest on-air coverage from Monday, March 25, 2024:

With the event aimed to begin on the fairgrounds at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon, here is a look at how the rest of the day is scheduled to pan out:

2:10 p.m. | Eclipse Begins

3:15 p.m. | Get Ready to Go Dark (vendors and activities will pause their availability until after totality ends)

3:23 - 3:26 p.m. | Totality!

4:35 p.m. | Eclipse Ends

5:00 p.m. | Event Closes

In terms of parking, there will be limited spaces available on the fairgrounds, but because it's spring and the fair board wishes to protect their lawns, there will be no parking on grass for the event.

However, Lisk clarifies that they have been working with Lewis County Public Transportation for a shuttle route. Check out the flyer below:
