Interview: Susan Alger gives Boonville Snow Festival II update

Boonville Snow Fest

BOONVILLE- Although Mother Nature has sent us a warm-up as we ease into the new-year, the Boonville Snow Festival II committee is busy preparing for what is anticipated to be another exacting weekend of oval ice sled racing.

Aimed for the weekend of January 27 - 29, 2023, the beloved festival was cancelled during the winters of 2021 and 2022 amidst lingering COVID restrictions, including issues with racers at the Canadian border.

With some fresh committee members and brand-new sponsors jumping on-board, the festival is now reaching out for fireworks sponsorships. Committee spokesperson Susan Alger tells us wintertime fireworks have become quite popular here locally and there's no better time to light the sky up than the snow festival.

If you’re interested in becoming a fireworks sponsor, please message the Boonville Snow Festival II Facebook page, or call Lisa at 315-269-5407.

"We will list you as a sponsor on our website and announce your name as a Fireworks sponsor at the event," Alger said. The deadline is January 15.

As committee members continue molding this year's event, the Lost Trail Snowmobile Club is also organizing the traditional torch light parade, which will serve as a prelude to the track blessing and fireworks Friday night.

Speaking of which, this year's parade grand marshal will be Wendell Roberts.
