Lewis County Clerk warns of DMV ‘Phishing’ Scam

LOWVILLE- Local officials are warning folks of one of the latest text message scams that has been going around.

According to the Lewis County Clerk, Jake Moser, this series of text messaging scams suggests to the victim that they have unpaid tolls and traffic tickets with the DMV.

If you receive or have received something along those lines lately (see example below), officials advise to ignore it and delete it.

Furthermore, residents are warned to never click on any links that may be attached to suspicious text messages, emails and etc.

In conclusion, Mr. Moser clarifies that the DMV if a governmental agency and they will not notify you of violations via text message, social media and etc.
