LEWIS COUNTY- An ongoing crack cocaine investigation in Lewis County has resulted in drug possession charges, including felonies, filed against a man from the Mohawk Valley, authorities say.
Ronnie Lewis, 46, of Utica, NY was arrested last Friday by members of Lewis County Drug Task Force on a sealed indictment warrant.
Lewis’ arrest stems from a be on the lookout notice (BOLO) via the task force. He was caught after a Sheriff’s Deputy and K-9 Winnie reportedly witnessed Lewis driving a vehicle that matched the BOLO.
He was pulled over and taken into custody. According to investigators, a search of Lewis’ vehicle led to nearly 24-grams of packaged crack cocaine.
Police also learned that Lewis possessed over $2,100 during the arrest. In addition to the warrant, Lewis was charged with a felony for criminally possessing a controlled substance in the third-degree.
He was held without bail, due to three other felony convictions.
On Tuesday, Lewis was arraigned before Judge King on the warrant for two counts each of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree. He was remanded back to the county jail on $1,000 cash, $2,000 bond or $9,000 partially secured bond on the indictment warrant.
