GREIG- A medical helicopter was called in the wake of an ATV accident over the holiday weekend in Lewis County, according to emergency officials.

In the weekly DEC Forest Ranger highlights, officials report that Ranger Evans responded to the scene of a personal injury ATV accident.

It happened Sunday afternoon near the intersection of VanArnum and Brantingham roads, town of Greig.

Ranger Evans applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding from the subject’s lower leg.

New York State Police, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the 3-G and Brantingham Fire Departments also responded.

The patient was transported by Lewis County Search and Rescue ambulance to a nearby landing zone for air transport by LifeNet.

There were no further details provided at press time.
