With the first major heat wave of the season taking its grip across Central and Northern New York, folks are reminded that there are various local cooling shelters available for use.

Here is a list of our local cooling shelters throughout Jefferson, Lewis & Oneida Counties:
Herkimer County:
No cooling centers were reported via the New York Department of Health Cooling Center website. Contact your local officials for information about cooling centers near you. Air-conditioned libraries, supermarkets, and malls are great places in the community to get cool. Shaded areas of local and state parks or swimming facilities like community pools and beaches are also places you can go to get cool during summer heat.
