Local recruits among 217th graduating class from New York State Police Academy

ALBANY- A few local recruits from the North Country area are among 238 new Troopers who have graduated from the 217th New York State Police Academy.

Upon completing a series of field training, these new State Troopers will begin serving in their assigned region. Locally, Troopers Cody R. Capron and Kadyn N. Miller, both of Lowville, NY; Trooper Jacob Pilkins, of Carthage, NY and Nichole Sykes, of Westernville, NY will all begin their careers here in the Troop D region.

A special ceremony was observed on Wednesday at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

To date, the New York State Police has over 5,000 sworn members.
