WEBB- A snowmobiler is being praised for playing a key role in assisting with the removal of a disable tractor trailer rig in the middle of the wilderness.

It was shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday when emergency responders in the Western Adirondacks were dispatched to the Big Moose-Stillwater Road for a tractor trailer that was disabled and blocking the entire roadway.

The scene was initially discovered by Brian Berg, of Eagle Bay, who was riding his snowmobile in a westerly direction, according to the Town of Webb Police Department.

Amidst the weather conditions that evening, visibility was very limited and the stakes for serious accidents were high with the rig blocking the roadway.

A pair of tow trucks from Howard’s Heavy Towing and Recovery were utilized in the challenging weather conditions and ultimately dislodged the rig.

It was around 9:30 p.m. when police said the truck finally managed to get on its way again, but authorities say Berg went a step farther and gave the truck driver an escort on his snowmobile to ensure he could make it all the way to Lowville without any further disruptions.

Thanks to Brian’s assistance, the Town of Webb Police says the potential for any subsequent accidents from that incident were dramatically decreased.
