INLET- A lost hiker was located in good health over the weekend in the Western Adirondacks, emergency officials say.

It was shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23 when local authorities near Inlet, NY were notified of an overdue hiker – a 53-year-old man from Marion, NY.

He was reportedly hiking near Cascade Lake, the DEC said. His wife reported him overdue when he didn’t show up on time.

Forest Rangers Miller, Piersma and Scott teamed up with the Inlet and Webb Police Departments and began searching for the overdue hiker.

With efforts focused around the trails near Cascade Lake, search teams also combed through the Chain Pond and Windfall Pond areas.

At around 10:30 p.m., Forest Ranger Scott found the lost hiker off from the Windfall Pond Trail. The hiker was in good health, the DEC said.

Once back to the trailhead, the man was reunited with his wife. Inlet EMS responded for an evaluation.

No injuries were reported.
