LOWVILLE- The village has received a $500,000 grant from the New York State Department of Parks and Recreation to use for several improvement aspects at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

First things first, village officials told us Friday morning that the state still needs to approve everything, but the first goal is tackling drainage issues.

There is a section of the park that is prone to retaining water. Once that issue is resolved with improved draining, village officials have ideas for a splash pad and a walking trail through the park.

Furthermore, there are ideas to establish permanent restrooms at the park.

According to Mayor Joe Beagle, this grant was first received in November and if everything is approved, work could begin as early as this spring.
