Lowville Woman Struck While Riding Bicycle, Driver Charged

Lowville- A bicyclist was struck yesterday afternoon in Lowville.

Patrols responded to a call at 2:56pm, where a truck had struck a female bicyclist on East State Street and then left the scene of the accident. The female, who is a village resident, was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica for treatment of her injuries.

Police soon located the vehicle, after obtaining descriptions. The alleged driver has been identified as John Repak, 89, of Lowville. Mr. Repak was issued tickets for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and also for failing to safely pass a bicycle.

All charges are returnable to the Village of Lowville Court at a later date. No further details were released.
