Mohawk Valley area suspect charged with felony sex abuse in town of Russia, State Police investigators say

RUSSIA- A resident from the Mohawk Valley area is faced with a felony sex offense accusation following an investigation in Herkimer County.

On Tuesday afternoon, Timothy Gorton, 68, of Utica, NY was arrested and charged by the New York State Police (Herkimer) with one felony count of sexual abuse in the first-degree (sexual contact with minor under the age of 11).

According to Troopers, this arrest stems from a sex offense complaint filed earlier this month in the town of Russia.

At press time, police said that an investigation was still pending, while Gorton’s arrest status was listed as bail ($10,000).

There were no further details provided.
