Snowmobiling 2025 marches on across upstate New York and the North Country.

For once, Mother Nature and Old Man Winter have been working together. In other words, it seems the North Country is having what used to be known as a traditional winter and the weather pattern looks like it will continue to favor good snowmobile conditions for the foreseeable future.

Some of the latest temperature outlooks from the National Weather Service predict a major arctic outbreak starting next week for much of the U.S., including the Northeast.

If things play out the way they are forecasted, we could very likely see widespread high temperatures only ranging in the single digits and overnight lows well below zero across Central and Northern New York – and that is without factoring in any potential wind-chills.

Grooming fleets have remained busy throughout the Central New York, Tug Hill and Western Adirondack regions.

Here are some of the latest reports we’ve gathered from around the local area:

NOTE: Conditions are likely and do tend to change on a moment’s notice. Be sure to keep checking our website for any updates (you can also check in with your favorite snowmobile clubs for more in-depth details).

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Trails remain in good shape overall, but there have been some thin spots reported.

Brantingham Snowmobile Club: All trails are open, groomed and in good shape as of January 15.

Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Trails from Belfort and north are in good shape; caution recommended on lower trails.

Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: Trails are open and grooming fleets have remained busy.

Missing Link Snowmobile Club: No recent reports.

Osceola Snowmobile Association: Grooming fleets are expected to roll all week.

Ohio Ridge Riders: Trails to Norway, Poland, Cold Brook and Ohio were groomed on Tuesday.

Old Forge/Town of Webb: Good conditions have been reported this week.

Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Grooming fleets have been out.

Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: Trails are open, grooming fleets have been out and conditions have been great.

Trackside Blazers: No grooming Tuesday night; RR section of C7 is CLOSED.

Turin Ridge Riders: All trails are now open; conditions remain good and grooming fleets have been active.

Valley Snow Travelers: Tug Hill and lower trails have been groomed; coverage is thinner on the lower trails.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
